Volunteers
There are many ways to help out the Committee to Preserve the Narcissa Prentiss House. We are always seeking interested members for the committee, which communicates regularly via e-mail and meets 4 times a year.
Yard work is an ongoing task and if you like yard work, we can always use help with that.
Or you could be a chaperone, one of many women who sit with the docents on Saturdays and Sundays from 1-4 pm in July and August. Most chaperones only sit on one afternoon each summer. Sometimes we may call on a few chaperones to assist us with a booth at the Summerfest or events at the house.
Or you could knit or crochet items for our Knit for Narcissa campaign. We sell scarves (the long ones are the most popular) and small items, such as pot holders, coasters, or gift card holders.
And any other suggestions for helping out will always be appreciated. You can contact us at [email protected].
We have a great committee, dedicated chaperones, and committed knitters and crocheters, but more are always welcome!
Donations
The Narcissa Prentiss House relies on donations for income and is a 501(c)3 organization, thus, donations are deductible to the full extent of the law. Monetary donations are used for the upkeep of the home and related activities.
Antiques, old quilts or historic artifacts to be donated or on loan for display are always welcome.
Scarves and other small knitted or crocheted items can be left at the Prattsburgh Library for pickup by a committee member. Income from scarves is also used for the upkeep of the home and related activities.
If you have any questions about donating money or an item to the House, please contact us at [email protected].
